Roselle's Mayor Holley is committed to Roselle's roadways.

Mayor Holley Unveils Most Comprehensive Road Improvement
Project in Recent Roselle History

36 Roads to be Included in Major Roadway Improvement Initiative

ROSELLE, NJ  – Infrastructure improvement has been at the top of Mayor
Jamel Holley’s agenda since taking office in January. Holley today announced that his
administration would be undertaking one of the biggest road improvement projects in Roselle
history.
Thirty-six roads will be milled and resurfaced through $575,000 in grants from the state
Department of Transportation and Union County community development block money. The
funding will also be used to repair sanitary and storm sewer drains, as well as install curb cuts for
people with disabilities at all major borough intersections.
“Turning Roselle into a model 21st century community starts with improving infrastructure,” the
mayor said. “We’re constantly working with state and county officials to find ways to beautify
our community at little to no cost to taxpayers. It is important for residents to open their doors in
the morning and see that elected officials are working hard to improve the local quality of life.”
Councilwoman Christine Dansereau said the improvements will allow those living and visiting
Roselle to travel around the borough more efficiently.
“The Borough Council recognizes the importance to reinvest in infrastructure in all wards
throughout Roselle,” Dansereau said. “It’s important that we provide the people who elected us
with tangible results and I believe this initiative accomplishes that.”
Borough Engineer Carl O’Brien anticipates the entire infrastructure project should be completed
by the end of the year.“The council wanted to upgrade the storm and sewer system as well as repave the roads,”
O’Brien said. “It’s an ongoing project, but all major hurdles have been cleared and I’m confident
that it will be completed in the timeframe we expect.”
According to Councilman Roy Locke, this project is only one example of the positive initiatives
the administration has planned for Roselle residents.
“The mayor has a clear set of goals aimed at improving the quality of life for our citizens,”
Locke said. “We will work together to make sure those goals are accomplished.”
